General CEU: Measuring and Reporting Outcomes of Applied Behavior Analysis Treatment Services

Measuring and Reporting Outcomes of Applied Behavior Analysis Treatment Services belongs in serious BCBA study because it shapes whether behavior-analytic decisions stay useful once they leave a clean training example and enter clinical documentation, payer communication, supervision records, and leadership review. In Measuring and Reporting Outcomes of Applied Behavior, for this course, the practical stakes show up in service continuity, accurate reporting, and defensible clinical decisions, not in abstract discussion alone.

Course Description

Discussion and resource creation for measurement of the outcomes associated with healthcare-based applied behavior analytic treatment services for individuals with autism spectrum disorders has steadily increased over the past several years. This presentation covers what to measure, how to measure it, the timing of the measurement, and sources of the data, illustrating the complexities of each of these choices and the risks associated with poor choices. The presenters then offer guidance for taking a systematic approach to outcomes measurement in large provider organizations. This includes determining which outcomes measures are appropriate for your clinical model, standardizing data collection and analysis in a useful manner, and resolving obstacles to the process. Finally, data are provided as illustrative examples from three large organizations.

What You'll Learn

  1. Identify defining characteristics of patient-reported and clinician-reported outcome measures and provide two examples of each.
  2. Identify systems considerations for implementing a sustainable outcomes measurement program.
  3. Articulate potential benefits and risks of harm in the selection and implementation of outcomes measurement initiatives.
