With time-limited resources and entitlement services available in childhood, it is critical that goals written, and interventions prescribed prior to adulthood are meaningful to effectively prepare each individual for the rest of their life. This presentation will review how practitioners can affect outcomes by adhering to three best practice guidelines, including intentionally choosing what skills to teach, how to teach these skills, and long-term planning.
