General CEU: Low-Response-Effort Strategies to Improve Student, Educator, and School-wide Performance

Low-Response-Effort Strategies to Improve Student, Educator, and School-wide Performance is the kind of topic that looks straightforward until it collides with the speed, ambiguity, and competing demands of school teams and classroom routines, clinic sessions and day-to-day service delivery. In Low-Response-Effort Strategies to Improve Student, Educator, and School-wide Performance, for this course, the practical stakes show up in feasible school-based support, stronger collaboration, and better student participation, not in abstract discussion alone.

Course Description

More and more behavior analysts are transitioning from clinical work to consulting and practicing in schools — and while they bring strong technical skills, educational environments demand a different level of agility. Schools are fast-moving systems where the ability to deliver timely, low-response-effort strategies can mean the difference between building momentum and losing it. Behavior is constantly shaped not just by consequences, but by the immediate practicality of responding. Therefore, behavior analysts must be equipped with efficient, high-impact strategies that reduce the effort needed to engage in desired behaviors across all levels — student, teacher, classroom, and organization. This session will provide practical applications rooted in behavior analysis and Organizational Behavior Management (OBM), showing how to engineer quick wins that build toward sustainable systems change. Attendees will learn how to align learner behavior, educator performance, and school-wide practices through a clinical and organizational lens.

What You'll Learn

  1. Identify key differences between clinical and school-based environments and explain how these differences demand low-response-effort strategies.
  2. Describe low-response-effort strategies for improving student behavior, teacher performance, and school-wide systems using behavior analytic and OBM principles.
  3. Apply Behavior Systems Analysis and Performance Engineering to create systemic connections between student outcomes, educator behavior, and organizational supports.
