General CEU: Tacting

A tact is a verbal operant in which a speaker names or describes something in the environment: the response is controlled by a nonverbal discriminative stimulus — an object, event, or property the speaker sees, hears, smells, tastes, or feels — and is maintained by generalized conditioned reinforcement such as praise or acknowledgment. In everyday terms, tacting is labeling.
