Supervision CEU: Supervision – There is no finish line

Most discussions of supervision in behavior analysis focus on the credentialing pathway — the hours, documentation, and competency requirements that take a trainee from RBT through BCBA certification. This framing, while important, obscures a more fundamental truth: supervision does not end when the certificate arrives.

Course Description

There is "supervision" related to helping an aspiring BCBA obtain experience and certification, which is obviously critical to our field and in the professional development of an individual Behavior Analyst. This workshop, however, will focus on supervision related to ongoing and indefinite performance management and mentorship of anyone you might supervise, BCBA or not. The specific areas of focus for this workshop will include: establishing a supervisory relationship; pinpointing performance expectations; providing meaningful feedback and reinforcement; garnering feedback about one's own supervisory performance; and troubleshooting performance issues.

What You'll Learn

  1. Identify distinct types of feedback used in supervisory practice with adult learners.
  2. Describe strategies for delivering effective feedback to trainees and supervisees.
  3. Apply methods for soliciting and teaching feedback reception skills in supervisory relationships.
