Course Description

Participants will understand the purpose of challenging behaviors and will be able gain knowledge on common functions of behaviors. The instructor will teach participants how Applied Behavior Analysis is used to implement positive strategies to increase learners' skills and achieve instructional control, based on the functions of behaviors, in addition to manage and prevent challenging behaviors with compassion and respecting the client's needs. Instructional Level: Basic Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the presentation, participants will be able to : (1)Identify purpose of challenging behaviors. (2)Detail the common functions of maladaptive behaviors exhibited by a student/client. (3)Specify and discuss at least 3 positive strategies for managing escape, attention, and access behaviors with compassion and respect for the client.
