The use of smart technology to provide support to people with autism in a living environment is proving to be successful in filling that gap. Having staff available 24 hours a day 7 days a week to provide support to multiple people in multiple environments is proving to be beneficial in not only filling the staff support need, but also in creating greater independence for those receiving this type of support. This session will demonstrate one organizations journey of successes and challenges with implementing a smart living environment.

Jessica Crawford, BCBA, LBA has been in the autism field for the past 15 years and has spent her career working to apply the science of behavior analysis to support and enhance the lives of individuals with autism. Since obtaining her masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Ball State University, Jessica’s focus has been working in home, community, and clinical settings providing services and guiding the application of behavior analysis across the lifespan. Finding new and innovative ways to teach and enhance the lives of individuals with autism while making services more accessible is a primary passion of hers. She continues to pursue this passion through both her career and volunteer work as a board member of the autism society for the past 8 years, which she currently resides as Past President.
