Sleep Strategies for Success: How to Combat Sleep Issues for Children on the Spectrum matters because it changes what a BCBA notices when decisions have to hold up in joint consultation, shared care planning, school-team communication, and interdisciplinary handoffs. In Sleep Strategies for Success: How to Combat Sleep Issues for Children on the Spectrum, for this course, the practical stakes show up in clearer roles, fewer duplicated efforts, and better coordinated intervention, not in abstract discussion alone.

Poor sleep hygiene can lead to lower intelligence scores, increased maladaptive behaviors, and social problems, particularly with peer relationships. As a practitioner working on skill development, maladaptive behaviors, and social skills, sleep hygiene is of utmost importance. This presentation will explore how Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles can be effectively applied to address these challenges and promote healthy sleep habits in children with ASD. This session will highlight how different interventions can be used to address specific sleep issues, such as difficulty falling asleep, frequent night wakings, or early morning awakenings. Attendees will learn techniques for implementing research-based sleep training strategies, tracking progress, and adjusting interventions to suit the unique needs of each child. This presentation will enable practitioners to engage in effective collaboration with caregivers in order to implement a comprehensive behavior plan to improve the quality of sleep for our clients.
