Course Description

Preparing future behavior analysts demands practicum experiences that balance scope — exposure to a wide range of competencies — with depth — mastery of critical clinical, analytical, and interpersonal skills. As organizations expand, scaling high-quality supervised training while maintaining this balance becomes increasingly complex. This presentation explores how technology can be leveraged to support supervisors and trainees in achieving scalable, yet individualized, practicum experiences without sacrificing scope or depth. We will outline a model of practicum support that integrates digital tools for supervision, tracking, feedback, and performance evaluation, while maintaining a strong focus on the integrity of skill development. Key resources and content areas used to scaffold trainee learning — including clinical competencies, case conceptualization, and ethical decision-making — will be shared. Additionally, we will address strategies for promoting the development of critical soft skills such as communication, collaboration, and professional judgment throughout the practicum journey. Attendees will leave with practical approaches to enhance the structure, consistency, and effectiveness of practicum training programs in diverse service settings.

What You'll Learn

  1. Describe strategies for designing practicum experiences that balance broad clinical exposure with skill development across clinical, analytical, and professionalism skills.
  2. Identify support tools and collaborative frameworks that support training that is scalable, replicable, and of high quality.
  3. Explain how to integrate regulatory and ethical requirements into clinical training models to ensure compliance with certification, licensure and payer standards.
