General CEU: Mindfulness in ABA

Mindfulness in ABA becomes clinically important the moment a team has to turn good intentions into reliable action inside clinic sessions and day-to-day service delivery. In Mindfulness in ABA, for this course, the practical stakes show up in stronger conceptual consistency and better translational decision making, not in abstract discussion alone.

Course Description

Mindfulness: Awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally (Kabat-Zinn, 2009). As behavior analysts, mindfulness can enhance our clinical practices. Having clients attend to and tact the antecedent conditions that evoke behavior and the resulting consequences can help our clients move towards more appetitive contingencies. The current recording will explore the research findings on mindfulness and how we can use the research to inform our practices. Mindfulness can have benefits outside of work as well. The presentation will explore how mindfulness practice can help clinicians live a more prosocial life
