General CEU: Inclusion of Values: Techniques to Increase Parental Adherence & Improve Therapeutic Outcomes

Inclusion of Values: Techniques to Increase Parental Adherence & Improve Therapeutic Outcomes is the kind of topic that looks straightforward until it collides with the speed, ambiguity, and competing demands of caregiver coaching, home routines, team meetings, and values-sensitive decision making. In Inclusion of Values: Techniques to Increase Parental Adherence & Improve Therapeutic Outcomes, for this course, the practical stakes show up in better alignment between intervention and the family context in which it must survive, not in abstract discussion alone.

Course Description

Barriers to change are common and expected. Parent motivation may be low due to unrealistic expectations for progress or a lack of intermediate goals that show progress. Value identification is an important part of removing barriers. Starting with values identification, we will review how to develop goals and objectives both by incorporating values and using the 7 dimensions of aba within programming. This training focuses on providing the tools and techniques caregivers need to ensure continuous, daily progress toward treatment goals. Values-specific intervention will be reviewed while maintaining a focus on overt behavior change.

What You'll Learn

  1. Identify parental values by using assessments from an ACTr perspective to help guide treatment.
  2. Incorporate elements of values-based intervention into parent training to increase adherence.
  3. Describe the tools and techniques caregivers need to ensure continuous, daily progress toward treatment goals.
