Feedback is the primary mechanism by which supervision produces behavior change. Without consistent, specific, and well-timed feedback, supervision reduces to a series of meetings in which information is exchanged but performance is not reliably shaped.

However, many supervisors have limited training on the effective use of feedback with adult learners. In this talk I will discuss distinct types of feedback and strategies for how to implement feedback effectively. I will also cover considerations for how to teach feedback reception skills, how to teach trainees/supervisees how to give feedback, and how to solicit feedback from trainees/supervisees.

Tyra Sellers is the owner of TP Sellers, LLC consulting and Scholar-in-Residence at Pass the Big ABA Exam (PTB). She carries out reviews for several joirnals, has published several journal articles, four co-authored book chapters, co-authored books focused on supervision and mentorship and applied ethics for behavior analysis, and a workbook pair for consulting and new supervisors.
