Cultural adaptation of behavioral assessments and interventions represents one of the most important frontiers in applied behavior analysis. This course, presented by Leslie Neely, examines the critical gap between the populations studied in ABA research and the diverse populations actually receiving ABA services, and it presents emerging evidence on how cultural adaptations can improve the social validity and effectiveness of behavioral interventions.

This is especially critical considering a vast majority of behavior analytic research has focused on white, Western populations. This talk will (1) review the literature documenting a lack of inclusion of diverse populations in ABA research, (2) discuss emerging research evaluating cultural adaptations of behavior analytic assessment and interventions, and (3) present major lessons learned by the presenter in the provision of culturally responsive behavior analytic services in diverse settings. A disclosure from the presenter: "I am not a person of color and do not identify as diverse or minoritized. As such, this presentation is inherently limited in scope and content."
