Course Description

This training provides school staff with practical, step-by-step guidance on how to conduct effective Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) within the school setting. Participants will learn how to identify and define challenging behaviors, collect and analyze data, determine the function of behavior, and use that information to create meaningful, skill-based interventions. The session also emphasizes collaboration, ethical practices, and how to use FBA findings to build Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) that teach students what to do, not just what to stop doing.

What You'll Learn

  1. Identify the key components and procedures involved in conducting a functional behavior assessment to determine the function of challenging behavior.
  2. Describe evidence-based strategies for assessing and treating challenging behaviors in applied settings.
  3. Explain ethical obligations and guidelines relevant to behavior analytic practice as outlined by the BACB.
