General CEU: Creating Culturally Responsive Ecological Systems: The Role of Dignity and Happiness

Role of Dignity and Happiness in Creating Culturally Responsive Ecological Systems belongs in serious BCBA study because it shapes whether behavior-analytic decisions stay useful once they leave a clean training example and enter case conceptualization, intervention design, staff training, and literature-informed problem solving. In Role of Dignity and Happiness in Creating Culturally Responsive, for this course, the practical stakes show up in stronger conceptual consistency and better translational decision making, not in abstract discussion alone.

Course Description

Tidepools are unique, dynamic, circumscribed environments that sustain diverse marine life. Ecological approaches to studying living beings consider organism to organism interactions and interactions between organisms and their environments. The ecological perspective of behavior in applied behavior analysis, the ecobehavioral approach, seeks to understand the unique lived contexts of the individual. All persons supporting children with autism are part of the unique ecology of the child. Moreover, persons that spend the majority of their time in direct roles of teaching children with autism are exceptionally pivotal to progress and serve as a source of strength and empowerment to the system. Children's human rights are upheld when meaningful behavior change is nurtured and sustained across all contexts of their lives. The purpose of this presentation is three fold: to discover the value of diversity through exploration of tidepools, discuss the importance of various roles persons play in the lives of children with autism, and outline the importance of measuring and understanding environmental arrangements that promote dignity and happiness throughout childhood and beyond.
