Course Description

So, it seems like we have been here before and understand what is at play. Applied Behavior Analysis therapy is the most prominent, effective, evidenced-based early intervention treatment. In the past two decades, the movement to mandate insurance coverage for autism has led to the enactment of autism insurance reform laws applicable to the major health insurance carriers (Cernius & Legis, 2017). For those behavior analysts who are using their education, credentials, training, and work experiences in ABA in sports, health, or fitness training, this is an exciting time to be a practitioner. For those interested in behavior analytic sport, health, and fitness, now is the time to get off of the sidelines. This talk will dive into the components of behavior analysis that make it an effective training model for coaches and trainers in the industry and will enact a nostalgic Marty McFly trip down insurance reform law memory lane.

What You'll Learn

  1. Apply the components of behavior analysis that make it an effective framework for sports, health, and fitness applications.
  2. Evaluate how the insurance mandate movement for ABA services creates opportunities for behavior analysts in health and fitness settings.
  3. Identify practical applications of ABA principles to evidence-based training programs in sports and fitness contexts.
