01Research in Context

01

What this study did

Becraft and colleagues read the new second-edition Advanced Guidebook cover to cover.

They wrote a short review that tells BCBAs what fresh topics the authors added.

The review does not test clients; it simply maps what is inside the manual.

02

What they found

The book now spotlights telehealth, diversity, and practice-oriented research.

These three areas were barely mentioned in the first edition.

The reviewers say these chapters match the problems BCBAs face today.

03

How this fits with other research

MSáez-Suanes et al. (2023) found that most BCBA supervision papers are opinion pieces with almost no data.

The new guidebook answers that gap by adding practice-oriented research methods BCBAs can run in house.

Rispoli et al. (2020) gave COVID-era telehealth tips; the guidebook expands telehealth into full ethical and procedural protocols.

Ecko Jojo (2024) urges disability-affirming supervision; the guidebook weaves diversity content into every chapter, not just a side box.

04

Why it matters

If you supervise or train staff, the guidebook gives you ready-made slides on telehealth ethics, diversity checklists, and small-n research designs you can model in your own clinic.

Reading this review takes five minutes and tells you exactly which new chapters to photocopy for your next team meeting.
