Supervision CEU: Training School Staff - Part 3: Implementing BST & Evaluating Training Effectiveness

Behavior Skills Training (BST) is the most empirically validated method for teaching behavioral procedures to staff and caregivers. Its four components — instruction, modeling, rehearsal, and feedback — are grounded in behavioral learning principles and produce higher initial acquisition and better maintenance than instruction-only or observation-only approaches.

Course Description

The final part of this session focuses on delivering training through the Behavior Skills Training (BST) model and monitoring fidelity using structured evaluation tools. Participants will build BST plans tailored to specific school roles and responsibilities, ensuring staff acquire, generalize, and maintain critical behavior support skills. Strategies for providing descriptive feedback, data-based coaching, and ongoing collaboration are emphasized throughout.

What You'll Learn

  1. Implement BST (instruction, modeling, practice, feedback) across multiple staff roles using real school-based examples.
  2. Monitor staff training fidelity and evaluate outcomes using data and supervision checklists.
  3. Facilitate follow-up supervision and collaborative coaching structures that support long-term behavior change in classrooms.
