Relational Frame Theory (RFT) offers behavior analysts a framework for understanding language and cognition that goes beyond traditional operant accounts of verbal behavior. Developed as an extension of behavior analysis into complex human language, RFT proposes that the core unit of human language is derived relational responding — the ability to relate stimuli to one another in accordance with arbitrary contextual cues, independent of direct physical properties.
