Join Free →Human Services fields experience high rates of staff turnover. Some data indicate that the high turnover rate in Behavior Analysis may be related to BCBAs and RBTs experiencing symptoms of burnout. Demand for RBT and BCBA services is higher than ever, with the number of job postings for BCBAs alone showing over a 5,000% increase in the past 12 years (BACB, 2022). Not only is the field of Behavior Analysis unable to meet the current demand for services, if it continues to experience high turnover, it will only get worse, resulting in a detrimental impact on the lives of the consumers it hopes to serve. This presentation will teach participants to identify antecedents of burnout, behaviors commonly associated with burnout, and create a structure to help prevent and treat burnout when it occurs. Participants will also gain additional knowledge of the impact burnout currently has on the field of Behavior Analysis, as well as future implications of burnout's potential impact on clinicians and consumers.
