Positive Behavior Supports for Quality of Life in Applied Settings is the kind of topic that looks straightforward until it collides with the speed, ambiguity, and competing demands of clinic sessions and day-to-day service delivery. In Positive Behavior Supports for Quality of Life in Applied Settings, for this course, the practical stakes show up in better performance, lower drift, and more sustainable team development, not in abstract discussion alone.

At Visions, we provide behavior consultation across Oregon in memory care, foster and assisted living settings, while following the state's framework for services. Administrative rules require the use of positive behavior supports. Over the years, we have worked to develop a collaborative approach that aims to center the individual by flexibly responding to the unique needs of their context. Positive outcomes related to living placement, levels of care, access to natural reinforcers and meaningful engagement, along with decreases in behaviors of concern, have been observed. We will share an overview of best practices from our experience in applying conceptually systematic approaches in non-traditional settings, within the state framework, with individuals across the lifespan.
