Course Description

The field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) continues to grow, yet Black women remain significantly underrepresented in leadership positions (Cirincione-Ulezi, 2020). This workshop explores systemic barriers—including lack of mentorship, only-ness, microaggressions, and implicit bias—that hinder leadership advancement for Black women BCBAs. Using real-world narratives and research-based insights, the impact of these challenges and discuss strategies for fostering inclusivity, advocacy, and professional growth will be examined. Designed for ABA professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs, this interactive session will also integrate business development, social media presence, cultural humility, and personal values into career advancement and supplemental income. Participants will engage in hands-on activities such as drafting a mission statement, creating a mock social media post, and identifying culturally responsive strategies to enhance their ABA practice. Through guided self-reflection and networking opportunities, attendees will align their professional goals with their strengths and interests, ensuring a values-driven approach to their work.
