The session begins with an introduction to AI, explaining its fundamental concepts, such as machine learning and neural networks, and discussing its relevance and applications in healthcare and education. Participants will learn about the cutting-edge technologies transforming our world and the importance of keeping pace with these advancements. Following the introduction to AI, the workshop will review the principles of Design Thinking, a user-centric problem-solving method of prototyping. Next, we will discuss the ethical considerations of integrating AI into practice, addressing privacy, bias, transparency, and the necessity for human oversight in AI-based decisions. Attendees will engage in a hands-on activity that takes them through the stages of Design Thinking, while integrating AI to address real-world problems they encounter with their clients. The workshop will conclude with a Q&A session, encouraging participants to discuss their experiences, followed by a roundup of key takeaways and resources for further exploration. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have a clearer understanding of how AI can support data-driven decision-making and how Design Thinking can foster creative solutions within their practice. Beth is holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, where her dissertation combined behavior analysis, organizational behavior management, and artificial intelligence, focusing on Human Computer Interaction and UX design and leveraging AI to develop assistive technology for neurodivergent individuals. With experience in organizational development and instructional design, Beth previously served as a Director of Training and Development, supervising staff working in the field and designing development plans for staff. Beth managed a team of clinical supervisors and clinical care coordinators, and served as a clinical lead for ABA programs for children diagnosed with developmental disabilities across six different states in her role as a former Clinical Director. Beth is also the former CEO of an adult services division where she was charged with developing quality clinical services for adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities in the state of Pennsylvania, supporting their vocational and independent living goals. Beth is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of West Florida where she teaches master’s level Applied Behavior Analysis courses. Beth is also the Founder and Senior Consultant for Shaping Development, LLC, where she works with individuals and businesses to develop personal, organizational, and financial data-driven goals, fueled by advances in technology, AI, and data science.
