General CEU: Increasing Caregiver Integrity of Skill Implementation Through ACT-Based Training

Increasing Caregiver Integrity of Skill Implementation Through ACT-Based Training becomes clinically important the moment a team has to turn good intentions into reliable action inside caregiver coaching, home routines, team meetings, and values-sensitive decision making. In Increasing Caregiver Integrity of Skill Implementation Through, for this course, the practical stakes show up in better alignment between intervention and the family context in which it must survive, not in abstract discussion alone.

Course Description

Earlier research has demonstrated both the efficacy of behavioral parent training in effectively teaching parent skill implementation and of an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) base training program in improving perceived parenting abilities. The purpose of this presentation will be to evaluate current BCBA perspectives on challenging parent training and using ACT principles to achieve more collaborative, effective, and efficient parent training strategies. ACT-based training components in increasing participant integrity of skill implementation will all be addressed.

  2. Describe how acceptance and commitment principles can enhance collaborative and effective parent training.
  3. Evaluate the impact of ACT-based strategies on caregiver integrity of behavior analytic skill implementation.

Reigna Pierce is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Licensed Behavior Analyst in the state of Virginia and Maryland. Reigna has worked with Verbal Beginnings since July 2021 and has worked in the mental health field for 6 years. However, her passion for helping persons with developmental disabilities started long before that. Over the last 16 years, Reigna has been an active volunteer with the Special Olympics across four different states. After graduating from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in 2011, she pursued a doctorate in physical therapy. During her studies as a DPT student, she continued her volunteer work for the special olympics. It wasn’t until then, she learned about Applied Behavior Analysis and the fire to learn more was ignited. She switched gears and immediately began the Masters program for Applied Behavior Analysis at Simmons University in Boston, MA. Reigna spends most of her time reading through current research focusing on ACT, parent training, and supervision.
