Ethics CEU: Ethical Empowerment: Professional Boundaries in Today's World

Professional boundaries in ABA are the limits that keep the relationship between a practitioner and a client or family professional and therapeutic rather than personal. They govern how BCBAs and RBTs handle friendship and social media requests, gifts, self-disclosure, physical space, communication outside sessions, and dual roles — and they are anchored in the BACB Ethics Code, including its standards on multiple relationships (1.11) and gifts (1.12).

Course Description

In the dynamic landscape of today's working world, professional boundaries often become complex and challenging, especially in unconventional work environments. This course is designed to address unique challenges these settings present, offering a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical strategies. This course is ideal for professionals in non-traditional work environments (i.e. outside of an office) who seek to strengthen their interpersonal skills, maintain professionalism, and create a respectful, boundary-aware workplace. Whether you are new to such an environment or looking to refine your skills, this course will empower you with the knowledge and tools to navigate professional boundaries confidently and effectively. Please Note: This recorded CEU course features Melanie Shank as the presenter and former Chief Coaching Officer of Refocus Behavior. While she is no longer employed by Refocus Behavior, the course remains a high-quality, engaging, and valuable learning experience. Additionally, the "Learning Journeys" name has been retired—our Continuing Education platform is now simply Refocus Behavior.
