General CEU: Enhancing Performance and Satisfaction in Online Behavior Analysis Education: Exploring Innovative Instructional Strategies

Enhancing Performance and Satisfaction in Online Behavior Analysis Education: Exploring Innovative Instructional Strategies belongs in serious BCBA study because it shapes whether behavior-analytic decisions stay useful once they leave a clean training example and enter supervision meetings, staff training, clinic systems, and performance review. In Enhancing Performance and Satisfaction in Online Behavior Analysis Education: Exploring Innovative Instructional Strategies, for this course, the practical stakes show up in better performance, lower drift, and more sustainable team development, not in abstract discussion alone.

Course Description

As online education in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) continues to grow, it is important to identify effective instructional strategies that enhance student performance and satisfaction. This symposium presents a series of studies investigating innovations in online graduate-level ABA instruction. One study examined the use of criterion-based grading combined with structured one-on-one synchronous corrective meetings. Results showed improved assignment scores over time and higher student satisfaction compared to traditional grading methods, along with increased grading reliability reported by instructors. Another set of studies compared interteaching to traditional discussion forums in asynchronous courses. Across multiple replications, interteaching led to consistently higher quiz scores (e.g., 96.75% vs. 75.95%; 93% vs. 72%) and was preferred by 80% of participants. A third presentation will discuss the role of assignment choice, assessed in asynchronous Master 's-level ABA courses. While weekly quiz scores did not differ significantly between choice and no-choice groups, students overwhelmingly preferred having the option and reported enhanced learning experiences. These findings suggest that providing assignment options can boost student satisfaction without compromising academic performance. The final presentation evaluated an ethical decision-making worksheet designed with structured sequential prompts to help graduate students in applied behavior analysis navigate ethical situations. The worksheet's use was taught to 13 graduate students using a modified behavior skills training approach, with pre- and post-measures recorded for scenarios and generalization assessed through novel scenarios. Results demonstrated significant improvement in ethical decision-making across measures and in generalization scenarios, and participants reported positive social validity, indicating the worksheet is a practical tool for their future professional careers. Collectively, the studies underscore the value of structured feedback, active peer engagement, autonomy, and preference-sensitive design, and practical tools for ethical decision-making in online ABA education. The results offer practical, evidence-based strategies for instructors aiming to enhance both learning outcomes and the student experience in online behavior analysis programs.
