Course Description

Caregivers are vital members of the treatment team with active caregiver-provider collaboration linked to better outcomes (Ozonoff & Cathcart, 1998), but establishing effective collaboration is often met with challenges. Organizational change may be needed to enable and improve meaningful and effective caregiver collaboration in keeping with ethical codes and insurance requirements. Learn how Caravel Autism Health's systematic analysis of the environmental variables influencing staff and parent's participation in family treatment guidance sessions informed organizational changes to support improved quantity and quality of collaboration. Caravel's multifaceted approach utilizing a quality and outcomes framework aims to improve the caregiver collaboration experience through the use of standards, training, quality indicators, and performance management. An evaluation of the training process which included collaboration tools (Kasper et.al., 2023), techniques, and supports will be shared with impacts of the quality and outcomes framework related to treatment delivery, caregiver satisfaction, and session quality.

Dr. Jodi is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and earned her doctoral degree in Rehabilitation from Southern Illinois University.
