Course Description

As people interact with each other in a workplace and set out to achieve overlapping goals, emotions run high, and conflict is likely to arise. In fact, workplace conflict is very common in human care service provision as caregivers, professionals from different disciplines, other stakeholders, direct staff, and supervisors work with each other. Effective leadership involves surfacing workplace conflict and successfully navigating challenging conversations to achieve resolution for all parties involved in the conflict. Therefore, effective conflict management is an essential skill for every leader. In this workshop, we will discuss how to approach conflict, take others' perspectives, find common values, problem-solving to identify workable resolutions and strengthen relationships.

What You'll Learn

  1. Identify when it is best to approach, instead of avoiding altogether, conflict in the workplace and factors that create conflicts in the workplace for behavior analysts.
  2. Describe how to apologize in a manner that is received as genuine and sincere and the active listening skills taught in the workshop.
  3. Select the appropriate time and place to discuss the conflict.
