Supervision CEU: Case Management — Strategies for Supervisors

Case management is one of the most demanding and least formally taught competencies in behavior analysis. While graduate programs focus heavily on assessment, intervention design, and data analysis, the organizational and logistical skills required to manage a caseload of clients, staff, and stakeholders are largely left to on-the-job learning.

Course Description

Behavior analysts providing clinical services are required to manage caseloads of clients and related staff. There are many common stressors that come with managing caseloads, such as the complexities of scheduling and funding source requirements, completing time sensitive tasks, and engaging with staff and stakeholders. Individual variables (e.g., level of experience, scope of competence, number of clients and staff, organization support) can add to the complexity of case management. In this workshop, Dr. Sellers will cover some antecedent strategies to increase successful case management for organizations and behavior analysts. She will also discuss some steps to take in evaluating caseloads and related addressing needs.

What You'll Learn

  1. List common and individual contributors to stress in relation to case management.
  2. Describe at least 2 antecedent strategies organizations and individuals can take to increase successful case management.
  3. Describe the steps involved in evaluating caseloads.
