General CEU: ABA Interventions for Individuals with Down Syndrome

ABA Interventions for Individuals with Down Syndrome matters because it changes what a BCBA notices when decisions have to hold up in school teams and classroom routines, adult services and community participation. In ABA Interventions for Individuals with Down Syndrome, for this course, the practical stakes show up in feasible school-based support, stronger collaboration, and better student participation, not in abstract discussion alone.

Course Description

Individuals with Down syndrome often display interfering behaviors such as elopement, aggression, and self-injurious behavior (SIB). While these behaviors are common in individuals with Down syndrome, there is a lack of research evaluating ABA interventions for this population. Two single-subject design studies were conducted evaluating ABA interventions for individuals with Down syndrome. A systematic literature review of ABA interventions for this population was also conducted.

What You'll Learn

  1. Explain current literature on ABA interventions for individuals with Down syndrome.
  2. Identify ABA interventions that are effective in decreasing interfering behaviors in a school-age student with Down syndrome.
  3. Identify ABA interventions that are effective in decreasing interfering behaviors in a young adult with Down syndrome.
