Course Description

This presentation will focus on the 2025 initiatives the ABA Coding Coalition. Topics include: proper use of the CPT codes for Adaptive Behavior Assessment and Treatment Services, common payer policy challenges, key regulatory updates for our field, updates on the ongoing advocacy work the Coalition is doing on your behalf, as well as new / updated resources coming in 2025!

What You'll Learn

  1. Describe tips and tricks for accurately reporting the ABA CPT codes and how to use this knowledge to improve your working relationship with contracted health plans.
  2. Demonstrate a broader understanding around key regulatory changes for 2025, as well as ongoing advocacy work the Coalition is doing to try and improve overall coverage of ABA services.
  3. Hear about forthcoming updates to existing Coalition resources as well as new resources being developed, to support them in successfully engaging their payers and obtaining authorizations for medically necessary services for clients.

About the Instructor

BCBA, LBA, CDP

Kristen Koba-Burdt, BCBA, LBA, CDP (she/her) is a Behavior Analyst and a Certified Diversity Professional (CDP®). She serves as the Director of Clinical Operations for BAYADA, a not-for-profit organization. Whether in an official capacity or of her own volition, Kristen has tirelessly dedicated numerous hours to advocacy and advancement of the field of applied behavior analysis. In 2024, Kristen was awarded the Council of Autism Service Providers (CASP) Mission Award and in 2019 she received the Outstanding Sustained Advocacy Award at the Autism Law Summit for her efforts related to consumer access to services, supporting families in rural and underserved areas, and focusing on increasing provider knowledge related to autism policy. Additionally, she serves on the ABA Coding Coalition as a representative for CASP. She is devoted to supporting underserved communities to access ABA, creating career opportunities for a diverse workforce, and continuing to learn and grow to enhance equity and inclusion in all facets of her work.
