01Research in Context

01

What this study did

The authors made a shopping list of 30 verbal-behavior papers. All were published in 2015 and none appeared in our main journal, The Analysis of Verbal Behavior.

They read each paper, wrote a one-sentence summary, and listed where to find it. The goal was to save you from hunting through ten different journals.

02

What they found

The list is ready to print. You get author names, journal, page numbers, and a short note on what each study asked.

No new data were collected; this is a map, not an experiment.

03

How this fits with other research

Kranak et al. (2022) did the same job for graph-training studies. Both papers use the "annotated list" trick to speed up busy BCBAs.

Ferrier et al. (2025) went one step further. They turned their 2025 list into a full systematic review and counted trends. van Timmeren et al. (2016) stayed light; Ferrier shows how you can deepen the idea.

Fantino (1981) warned that ABA ideas spread thin when scattered across fields. van Timmeren et al. (2016) tackles the scatter by gathering verbal-behavior pieces in one place, proving the field now has tools to track itself.

04

Why it matters

If you write verbal-behavior programs, tape this list to your wall. In five minutes you can check if someone already tested that mand frame or echoic prompt in 2015. Use it before you start your next lit search so you don’t miss hidden gems outside TAVB.
