Course Description

This is not a conversation just for behavior analysts. This is an invitation for everyone working with learners with autism. Despite decades of research and implementation, social skills intervention remains distal to the real life needs of autistic learners across the playgrounds, schools, and communities they reside and interact with. Why? Because we have not fully interrogated concepts of practice, social currency, and conversation skill fluency. And the reality is, we don't often know how. In this discussion, Landria will share her insights as a organizational leader, clinician, curriculum developer, and researcher. Drawing on her manualized curriculum Keep the Conversation Going and current research in equity based social skills intervention, Landria will highlight gaps in current models and propose a new direction focused on outcome-aligned and equity-focused interdisciplinary social skills intervention models. "It's important to recognize that the real-world social success cannot rest with a single discipline." This professional learning opportunity is an invitation to educators, learning specialists, speech-language pathologists, and behavior analysts to rethink how we develop targets, provide instruction, facilitate skills, and support social engagement, conversation development, social problem solving. Landria Seals Green is a dually certified Speech-Language Pathologist and Board Certified Behavior Analyst with over twenty years experience. She is a former clinical therapy practice owner who sold her company in 2020. She is currently working as a founder and consultant while pursing a PhD full-time at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in special education. Landria has been a speaker for over ten years and has interests in training and development, organization behavior management, social communication, clinical quality, and telepractice.Undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with graduate coursework completed at Northwestern University. Education in  Applied Behavior Analysis completed at FIT and University of North Texas. Landria is from the Southside of Chicago, lived in Connecticut and Michigan for a number of years. She now resides in Illinois with her husband Alfred and their children Adam and Alison.
