Course Description

In 2019, an article was published on Behavior Science in the 21st Century called "The Seven Deadly Sins of Behavior Analysts." Since then, a lot has happened in our field. We've grown in numbers, we've seen a paradigm shift in service delivery, and the next generation of behavior analysts is prioritizing client-led treatment more than ever. This presentation will discuss the current state of these "sins," or behaviors, as well as alternative behaviors we can use to succeed in our responsibilities to us as professionals, those we mentor, to our field and to those we serve.

What You'll Learn

  1. Describe what are seven "deadly sins" aka unhelpful behaviors that are common among behavior analysts? How have these behaviors been reinforced in our field?
  2. Review how can we identify them in ourselves and reflect on the functions they serve?
  3. Partipciants will review ways we can create conditions for self-awareness and behavior change in these areas to increase our effectiveness with our clients and stakeholders?
