Course Description

Sexual Harassment. It's a tricky and tough term to even type. In a field that's predominantly female, how does this still occur on a regular basis? Sexual harassment may be difficult to identify depending upon the culture of the setting and the stealthiness with which the perpetrator operates. It is also difficult to report, and even more so to handle the fallout as a person who reports. This talk will present key scenarios for discussion, how they were handled, and how the BACB goes about these delicate issues. This discussion will also examine how to address the fallout both internally and externally, and what your options are if the situation becomes more than you can safely handle as a practitioner.

What You'll Learn

  1. Describe the ethics surrounding sexual harassment.
  2. Identify the different forms of sexual harassment.
  3. Describe steps to handle internally and externally.

Hana Jurgens
MS, BCBA

As an undergraduate in 2009 I developed an interest in ABA during one of my psychology courses. Later that year, I accepted a position as a private in-home therapist, training under a BCBA to implement 1:1 ABA DTT. I continued this work until 2011, when I took an undergraduate Autism Practicum course where I worked as a (Intern) Paraprofessional working with students in an ASD specific classroom. Once I completed my undergraduate degree, I moved to Princeton, NJ where I attended Rowan University. During my graduate coursework I completed an internship with Princeton Child Development Institute, earning BACB hours. I also completed my research project with Partners in Learning, at their Cherrywood site. Between practicums I worked as a direct care therapist at Bancroft in their Lindens programs, obtaining experience and knowledge in the field. After living in Munich, Germany for 10 months, I moved to Tallahassee, FL where I obtained certification as a Lead BCBA working at Cayer Behavioral Group, Inc. I relocated to Michigan in Oct 2018 where I currently reside and work as a Regional Clinical Training Coordinator for the Region of Michigan providing RBT training and coordination, Supervisory training, professional trainings, and more. I have a passion for research and presenting.
