General CEU: Behavior Analysis and Human Trafficking: How Applied Behavior Analysis Can Guide a Housing Program Evaluation

Behavior Analysis and Human Trafficking: How Applied Behavior Analysis Can Guide a Housing Program Evaluation matters because it changes what a BCBA notices when decisions have to hold up in community routines and natural environments. In Behavior Analysis and Human Trafficking: How Applied Behavior Analysis Can Guide a Housing Program Evaluation, for this course, the practical stakes show up in stronger conceptual consistency and better translational decision making, not in abstract discussion alone.

Course Description

Findings from recent literature suggest that human trafficking (HT) programs may lack critical components that influence survivors' likelihood of successful reintegration into society. Our session highlights a retrospective evaluation of a housing program in southern Florida. The results of this evaluation can guide service providers to prioritize the optimal services that improve survivors' success, such as managing finances and acquiring and maintaining employment and housing. This panel features a program evaluation conducted with community partners at the USF Trafficking in Persons - Risk to Resilience (TiP) Lab. The first paper will highlight the behavioral-analytic approach taken toward program evaluation for survivors of human trafficking. The second paper will provide an overview of the retrospective analysis of the housing program, such as case file demographics, case management factors, and features that may influence survivors' outcomes. The third paper will present a systematic approach to creating need-specific treatment goals using the parameters of SMART goals. Taken together, these papers highlight a systematic approach to evaluating the effectiveness of service providers for survivors of human trafficking and provide recommendations to improve survivors' outcomes.
